“Depending on how much you’ve eaten, how much alcohol you drink, how quickly you drink it, and how much sugar is in the drink or mixer, drinking alcohol while you have diabetes might cause your blood glucose levels to climb or fall.
Blood glucose levels can rise as a result of drinking beer and sweet wine.
The doctor’s suggestion states that “moderation is crucial” for this reason.
She advises just drinking when your blood sugar levels are under control.
Dr. Brewer continued, “Alcohol should be consumed with meals, gently, and without sweet mixers.”
She also mentioned that if you have the blood sugar problem, many doctors suggest limiting your alcohol consumption to just one or two units each day.
Ice lollies, a classic of summertime pleasures, may be cooling in the sweltering heat, but they are frequently loaded with sugar.
Avoid those that you purchase from stores at all costs because they are loaded with sugar, the doctor said.
“The same is true for pre-marinated barbecued meats; their sauces are probably heavy in sugar, salt, and perhaps less healthful cooking oils.
Make your own marinade by combining fresh herbs, lemon juice, black pepper, and a little olive oil.
While many summertime treats and foods may be a trap for your blood sugar levels, fruit is a welcome refreshment.
Although fruit includes natural sugars, most of it has a low to moderate glycaemic index and doesn’t significantly elevate blood sugar levels, according to Dr. Brewer. However, limit your consumption of dried fruits.

The main signs of type 2 diabetes include:

- Feeling thirsty all the time
- Feeling very tired
- Unintentional weight loss
- Itching around your penis or vagina, or repeatedly getting thrush
- Cuts or wounds healing slowly
- The blurring of vision.
